The City Library is offering a free, 16-week ESL class, May 6–Aug 26. Before registering for this class, students are REQUIRED to take this english-skills assessment test. Click for more information.
Los adultos a partir de 18 años pueden empezar a aprender los aspectos básicos del idioma inglés en estas clases de ESL durante 16 semanas. Se invitará a los estudiantes a registrarse en el curso después de realizar una prueba de evaluación obligatoria del idioma el lunes 14 de abril, de 17.00 a 19.00 horas, en la Biblioteca principal. Esta prueba determinará el nivel de inglés de los alumnos para garantizar que las clases sean adecuadas para cada uno.
Las clases se realizarán todos los martes y jueves del 6 de mayo al 26 de agosto, de 18.00 a 20.00 horas, en la Biblioteca principal. Los estudiantes deben planificar su asistencia a las 16 clases para que todos puedan conocerse y aprender juntos. Cuando terminen las clases, realizaremos una ceremonia de graduación para celebrar este gran logro.

Adults ages 18 and up can start learning the basics of the English language in this 16-week ESL class. Students will be invited to register for the class after completing a required language-assessment test on Monday, April 14, from 5–7pm, at the Main Library. This test will determine the student's English skill level to ensure that the class is right for them.
Class will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from May 6–Aug 26, form 6–8pm at the Main Library. Students should plan on attending all 16 class sessions so everyone can meet and learn together. When the class series is finished we'll hold a graduation ceremony to celebrate this great accomplishment!

Salt Lake City's Main Library, designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie in conjunction with VCBO Architecture, opened in February 2003 and remains one of the most architecturally unique structures in Utah. This striking 240,000 square-foot structure houses more than 500,000 books and other materials, yet serves as more than just a repository of books and computers. It reflects and engages the city's imagination and aspirations. The structure embraces a public plaza, with shops and services at ground level, reading galleries above, and a 300-seat auditorium.
A multi-level reading area along the Glass Lens at the southern facade of the building looks out onto the plaza with stunning views of the city and Wasatch Mountains beyond. Spiraling fireplaces on four floors resemble a column of flame from the vantage of 200 East and 400 South. The Urban Room between the Library and the Crescent Wall is a space for all seasons, generously endowed with daylight and open to magnificent views.
