ARTIST STATEMENT

Color plays a large role in my artwork. As I explore the tones, textures, and patterns of my animal subjects, my mind deconstructs the values and layers of color. I work to build my color transitions through many layers. Some elements are realistic while others take on an ethereal quality. All the animals in my collection exist though colors are sometimes changed or taken to an idealistic level. I strive to provide a portrait of my subject at its best in full colored glory.

ARTIST BIO

The arts are my escape from regular life.  While I draw or paint, I enter a state of flow where only me and my subject exist. Pablo Picasso said, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.” Art has been a constant theme of my life. I’ve lived in various places in California, Arizona, and Florida and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arizona State University. While living in Florida, I became involved with the art scene and displayed work at the Orlando Museum of Art, the City Arts Factory, and the Sanford Historic Center. Additional artwork is on display at the Local Colors of Utah Fine Arts Gallery in Sugarhouse. I currently live in Bountiful with my husband, two daughters, and two cats.

About the branch

This beautiful facility was designed to complement the Rose Park neighborhood with sensitivity to its site on the Jordan River Parkway. An open space plan, with a large community meeting room and outside deck area, will accommodate this growing community for many years.

The south property of the Day-Riverside Branch is home to TreeUtah's EcoGarden, a "food forest" where all members of the community can learn about urban farming and organic gardening. The Day-Riverside Branch has a meeting room available for public use that features tables, chairs, a projector screen, and a piano.

Free parking is available to the west of the building, and free wi-fi access is provided throughout the library.
