One Sunday a month, we present three original pieces in a varied mix, chosen from music, dance, film, theater, performance art, writing, and the like — each 12 minutes or less. The whole event is short and sweet, taking about an hour.
Following each event, we serve coffee and cookies in an informal gathering, a chance for conversation with the artists.
Audio/visual artist Samuel Barton will present an ongoing work titled analogue animation, which involves cassettes, Sam's hands, music, puppetry and wacky audio. Sam says he “loves taking every day ideas and turning them into absolute magic...to take the piece from your eye holes straight to your heart.”
And Artists, a local dance project founded by performer and choreographer Rebecca Aneloski will present Tastes, based on movement research while in collaboration with Mella, known for it’s pop up dinners and gatherings throughout Salt Lake City. Tastes will be performed by Megan O’Brien and Micah Burkhardt, and will later be presented in Ogden. And Artists provides local dance artists a place to explore movement in process and to present dance in formats which involve its community, “utilizing movement to bring people into proximity, conversation, and connection”.
Kristina Lenzi will present Magazine Piece, a performance art experiment which creates its own choreography on stage. Kristina is the co-founder and curator of the Salt Lake City Performance Art Festival (in its 8th year). She has performed locally, nationally and internationally.
This program is modeled after 12 Minutes Max, a performance laboratory originated by On the Boards in Seattle.
