ARTIST STATEMENT
What is the best use to all the stacks of white papers? ART!
I started sketching at age 5 and started painting one year after. I love nature and wilderness. I love
drawing and painting different aspects of nature and wilderness, including animals and fantasy animals
(such as dragons). I use art to express my creativity and my love for these animals. I also use art to
express my feelings. I often draw or paint when I am bored or when I have some free time (and it
happens a lot, by the way though I am not usually bored). I love art and the tools that make it. I hope
everyone love art as much as I do. I hope everyone love nature and life as much as I do.
ARTIST BIO
Inspired by the wonders of nature, specifically animals, Sophia uses art to express her passion and love
for these beautiful creatures. She loves using a variety of techniques, such as acrylic paint, watercolor,
oil pastel, sketch, and chalk.
At age 5, Sophia started taking arts classes at the University of Utah, and then at Fay Studio, Salt Lake
City. At age 8, she illustrated and wrote comic books about a world where cats live in their own tribes,
and a world where dragons live and fight with honors. Sophia’s drawing “The Sea” (sea creatures) was
selected the 1 st place of her grade for Oakridge Elementary Art Night, May 20, 2022.
Currently 9, Sophia continues to draw and paint, to express her passion, love and diverse feelings about
the world surrounding her. Through her art, Sophia hopes to inspire more people to appreciate the
beauty of nature and life.

Considered to be one of the finest Carnegie Libraries in the West, this 8,900 square foot library has two levels. Since its opening in 1918, it has been an important part of city services to Westside residents. The Chapman Branch was completely renovated, including an updated HVAC, following the collapse of the roof during 1993. A major remodel of the basement level meeting space in 2002 resulted in a much improved children's area and expanded service and collection space for adults on the ground level. A small meeting room is available for public use, and free wi-fi access is provided throughout the library. Street parking is available to the south of the building, and an external book drop is located on the east side of the building for returning library materials after hours.
