The Ballpark Library Lab is a newly-renovated, repurposed space that will serve the Ballpark neighborhood until a permanent branch location is built. The almost 750-square-foot Lab has a small collection of materials patrons can borrow, along with a spot to return materials and eventually pick up holds. It will be open intermittently for Library pop-up events and programs, such as children's storytimes, test prep, social services, and makerspace equipment workshops. The Lab can also be reserved by individuals and groups as a meeting or study space.
Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall first announced plans for a new City Library branch during the unveiling of the Ballpark Station Area Plan on November 1, 2021.
To make sure the Library offers the services that meet our community needs and aspirations, we want to hear from you! How do you see the Ballpark Library Lab being used?
Our aim is to foster a collaborative environment that will allow the community to shape the development of the Library’s future, permanent space in the Ballpark Neighborhood.
Construction on a permanent Library branch in Ballpark could begin as early as 2027, with a potential opening date in 2028 or 2029.
