Sep 1–30, The City Library is accepting proposals for our TEDxMarmaladeLibrary series. We're looking for 10–15 minute Ted Talks based on the concepts of original ideas, challenges, passions, experiences, and inspirations.
Suggested themes include ”Love in the Digital Age", "The Big Reveal", or "Positive Disruption." Try to define one of these themes in your own terms, or feel free to come up with your own theme. Think of your idea, and how it has unleashed change and transformation to meet unmet needs. Think about how you make sense of change — what it means, how it affects policies and systems, and how it creates a better society. Try exploring new innovations and methods of understanding the human condition, the conscious and unconscious mind, or how to empower the marginalized, or simply improving yourself.
Your TED Talk should be 10-15 minutes in length. Long enough to say something significant, but short enough to hold everyone’s attention and to be easily watched as a recorded video. The TED format has proven that a carefully prepared talk of this length can have an astonishing impact.
TEDxMarmaladeLibrary will be following the TED speaker rules. For example, speakers are banned from “selling from the stage,” and there is strict enforcement of the clock. A benefit of speaking at TEDxMarmaladeLibrary is that your presentation will be made available online at the TEDxMarmaladeLibrary website, and possibly on TED.com, where some talks have attracted online audiences upwards of one million. TED Talks have been viewed more than 100 million times worldwide and this exposure has transformed the careers of many TED presenters and performers. TED has never paid speakers to appear but has always committed to creating an experience that’s tremendously fulfilling and beneficial on all sides. As a TEDx licensee, we plan to do the same. If you are unfamiliar with TED or the format of a TED Talk, we invite you to view some past TED and TEDx Talks at ted.com.
NOTE: This Google Form requires a Google / Gmail account. If you prefer not to create or use a Google Account, you can submit the required documents directly to abasic@slcpl.org. Emailed submissions that are incomplete or missing information will not be considered.
