Art Exhibit reception for "Cityscapes," plein air paintings of SLC by Trish Melander. Exhibit runs May 10–June 21.
Artists' Statement
The history of downtown Salt Lake and the surrounding valley are magic to me. I like to explore and connect with the buildings, their stories, their cracks and crumbles, and catch them on a sunny Tuesday afternoon unawares. I express the beauty, uniqueness and diversity of Salt Lake City through plein air oil paintings.
Artists' Bio
The artist is a plein air oil painter who can’t get enough of being outside. Her work explores both urban landscapes of western cities or far from home, sweeping views of red rock deserts and alpine forests. Gritty railroads, alley ways, and abandoned buildings catch the light as much as expansive vistas and quiet pastures. Her work is regularly displayed at plein air events around the west.
